Shag Shack Fest

DHYRT's First Event

Shag shack fest was our first event held at the Shag Shack, a new DIY venue in Byron, MI aka my house (BaileyJo). We had an amazing lineup of 7 bands, all local to and around Detroit. There was a good mix of shoegaze, alt rock, and psych pop/rock.

We built a huge stage out of pallets, bricks, and old carpet. Covered with two taped together canopies, the stage was impressively amateur, and would’ve worked great but of course it started raining.

Quickly, with the help of the band members, all the equipment was rushed into the garage- our backup space. It was a tight fit, but with the ambiance of the single strip of string lights and the backdrop of a hoarder's garage, the show went on. I won’t say much about each set except they all brought something unique and made the day memorable. If you watch the videos please keep in mind that the audio is super blown out, all of the bands were great live! If you didn’t make it to this one, there are sure to be more in the future…(keep October 26 open on your calendars).

Shout out to all the people who drove all the way out to the middle of nowhere and stood in the rain to enjoy good music. All our love to you!

The DHYRTY Grrls

We started DHYRT because of our passion for music.

The goal of our business is to promote engagement in the local music scene and support small artists. Through our mediocre concert content, awkward interviews, and meaningless reviews we hope to showcase the insane talent that exists in Detroit and around MI.

It also doubles as an excuse to go to as many shows as possible.
